5Night Catches Us does a good job capturing the tense political atmosphere of the 1970s. I liked how they incorporated authentic Black Panther Party video clips and anthems. Night Catches Us is worth seeing, even if for the historical nostalgia alone. Though I would’ve liked to have seen a steadier storyline. The movie is slow and unclear in parts. Anthony Mackie is polished and held his role well. And it’s always nice to see Kerry Washington in a film. Most actors would’ve played the movie for the heated love scene with Kerry Washington. (rewind) You’re a lucky man Mr. Mackie.
Night Catches Us only played in select cities. Still, you can order it On Demand from your local cable channel.
